Nowadays you could do a list for the 12 English players what played in the last game of last season that would be about 12. Oh how the times have changed.

Quite right, Nelson - in fact a friend of mine made exactly the same point when I published the list.

It's certainly fair to say that the Nordic countries were a well-used source of players back then. Before clubs started spending silly money like they do now, I think players from countries like Sweden and Norway were looked upon as being very good value for money.
