Nowadays you could do a list for the 12 English players what played in the last game of last season that would be about 12. Oh how the times have changed.

Fact of little or no consequence, 5 of those 12 are from the Nordic countries:

1. John Jensen - Danish
2. Anders Limpar - Swedish
3. Peter Schmeichel - Danish
4. Gunnar Halle - Norwegian
5. Roland Nilsson - Swedish

Quite right, Nelson - in fact a friend of mine made exactly the same point when I published the list.

It's certainly fair to say that the Nordic countries were a well-used source of players back then. Before clubs started spending silly money like they do now, I think players from countries like Sweden and Norway were looked upon as being very good value for money.
