New Aston Villa Badge - You decide...

In case you weren't already aware, Aston Villa have announced they now have a new badge. Out goes the existing design, and in comes the replacement...

For what my opinion's worth (and that's probably not a lot), I think it looks distinctly like the product of an under-14's art competition. But wait - Aston Villa's website ensures us that there's sound reasoning behind the new design:

After being ommitted from the previous badge... the letters FC have been re-introduced.

At the expense of your team's full name?!?! It gets better...

The famous lion also has a different look. Gone is the fragmented image seen on previous Villa badges. The lion is now proud, looking to the future and unified - signalling our desire for togetherness.

What a load of rubbish. Oh and they've added a white star to represent their European Cup victory in 1982. The perfect finishing touch...

As you can tell, I'm not impressed. What do you think? Leave us a comment and make your feelings known!

the other one looked way much better than this one, and it the shirts represented the colors better. If the shirts will look again like the background of the badge, they'll be just like the ones of Manchester City.

It'll be lovely when its finished.

Why did they de-claw the cat? Is this the start of a kinder, gentler villa?

I think its been Spayeded too.

I love the addition of the star as well. And with the elimination of all the unnecessary stripes and words, there's room for plenty more. Look out Europe!

Does the star signify Intertoto Cup qualification?

;-)

I think Villa are due for another decent European season. I thought, actually, that they might have got it this season under Martin O'Neill. What went wrong, do you think?

I think you are right in that Martin O'Neill can get them into Europe.

I think the problem this season is its too much too soon. He has a lot of rubbish to clear out, and is looking to replace players such as Angel, with talent such as Carew, Abonghalor and Young.

With O'Neill getting the best out of Barry, and the best of Stilian Petrov yet to come, I think good times are around the Holte End corner.

Look at this way: It's not the new Arsenal horror badge.

The current one? Is that a good thing or a bad thing?!!! :-)

It is fairly awful but at least it looks like a secondary school kid designed it. Unlike Fulham's badge which is straight out of primary school art hour

lol... How could I forget the Fulham badge?!! Whoever designed that should have been forcibly walked off the end of a short pier. Terrible!!!

Does the star mean next time there's a blue moon, Aston Villa will win the competition they've been clutching at straws for: The UEFA Cup then they would have to design a new one. Which would be better...
Poor badge

Mackems have 2 rampant lions on their badge. But are not technically a 'premiership' team.
